glClassifieds - Ad Submissions
Ads can be submitted by either clicking the Submit tab or by selecting a category and clicking the Submit an ad to this category link.
Submission Form
The submission form consists of the following fields. Note where the user form differs from the administrator form.
| Category | The category for the ad can be selected here. If the user selected Submit an ad to this category from the category home page, then the category will be preselected (but may be changed). If the category has keywords assigned, the keywords will change if the category is changed. Likewise for the “Ad visible to non-members” checkbox (user form only). |
| Subject | This required field should be filled with a short description of the item or service being advertised. |
| Description | This required field should contain a detailed description, specifications, and any other information pertaining to the ad. |
| Price | This optional field may contain a price. If data is entered here, then it will appear as Price: xyz on the ad. This is a text field, so you may enter something like $50 OBO. |
| Web Site | This optional field may contain a URL to more information. |
| Photos | One or more photographs may be uploaded. The number depends upon the maximum value set in the Configuration area. Photos will be automatically resized to fit the administrator-defined dimensions, and thumbnails will be created. |
| Expiration | Enter the number of days that the ad will run. This number must be greater than zero. A default value is supplied. |
| Keywords | The keywords will be pre-filled from the category, but may be overridden by the submitter. These words will not appear with the ad but will be used when searching the ads. |
| Ad visible to non-members | (user form only) Select whether anonymous users will be able to view the ad. Note that this checkbox will be unchecked and disabled if the category prohibits anonymous access. |
| Owner | (administrator only) Set the owner of the ad. This allows administrators to submit ads on behalf of other site users. |
| Group | (administrator only) Set the group ID for the ad. This is used when determining permissions, described more fully below. |
| Permissions | (administrator only) Set the permissions for the ad. See below for more detail. |
Permissions
Like other glFusion features, permissions can be granted to ads for a certain user, a specific group of users, all site members, and anonymous users. The permissions for ads have the same meanings as for stories and other features:
- Read : The user or members of the group may view the ad, and the ad will appear in search results.
- Write : The user or members of the group may edit or delete the ad. This includes extending the ad's runtime.
Only administrators have access to the full permission settings. For normal users, the only available permission setting is to enable or disable anonymous access to their ad, and only if anonymous access is allowed for the selected category. If anonymous access has been disabled for the chosen category, then that checkbox will be unchecked and disabled.
