Form Plugin Beta Released for glFusion

Products

An initial beta version of the Forms plugin has been released at www.glfusion.org.  This plugin is based conceptually on the robust nexForm plugin for Geeklog by Nextide.  This is a simplified version, noticeably missing many of the layout functions of the Nextide version, and is intended to be a simple and straightforward method of creating custom forms and storing use responses.

This is the first public beta release, use at your own risk.  This plugin has performed well in limited testing on a public site, but your mileage may vary.

Update:  Version 0.1.1 is available for download.  This version adds static and calculate fields.

Among the plugin's features are:

  • Several variable types can be defined: Text, Textarea, Radio Buttons, Checkboxes, Multiple Checkboxes, and Dropdown lists.
  • Submitted data can be stored in the database and/or emailed to any combination of the site administator, the form's owner, or members of the form's administration group.
  • Saved submissions can also be downloaded as a CSV file, and individual submissions can be printed.
  • Access to forms (and results) can be limited to a specific group of users.

Documentation, a work in progress, can be found in the wiki.  There will surely be more to come as the plugin is fully fleshed out.

If you've been using version 0.0.3 or 0.0.4 in private beta, and would like to keep your data, it is very important that you back up your site database and be prepared to roll it back along with the original version of the plugin if the installation fails.  While there shouldn't be any problems, the jump to 0.0.5 involves major alterations to the schema, and 0.1.0 contains a lot of code changes.

This version requires PHP 5.1.0 or higher, and glFusion 1.2.0 or higher
