====== Administrator's Manual : PhotoComp ====== ===== Installation ===== Installation is done via glFusion's automatic plugin installer. Visit the Plugin administration page, upload the plugin and click "Install" ===== Configuration ===== Configuration of global options is done via glFusion's central configuration manager (Command and Control -> Configuration -> Photocomp). See Configuration. ===== Administration ===== Administration of competition elements is carried out from the Command and Control "Photocomp" option. Note: When the plugin is first installed you should set up Divisions, Classes and Sections before adding Events. ==== Divisions ==== See Managing Divisions. Divisions represent skill or status levels, such as "Novice", "Advanced Amateur", "Master", etc. Each division has a "level" value which is used to equate different division types when a new user is set up. For instance, an "Advanced Amateur" in the Print section may be "Accomplished" in Digital. Divisions are associated with a "Division List", which is then assigned to a Section. ==== Classes ==== See Managing Classes. A Class represents the subject matter or theme of a competition. Examples of classes are "Nature", "Travel", "Portrait", "General", etc. Competitions may be set to allow entries for only one class, or the class may be left open for the entrant to choose. Classes are associated with a "Class List", which is then assigned to a Section. ==== Sections ==== See Managing Sections Sections are really for a competition with a competition where different rules or judging methods apply. Examples might include a "Print" section with a different judging or award system from the "Digital" section. ==== Events ==== See Managing Events. Events are the core element of the Photo Competition plugin. These are the actual events that are scheduled and configured for site users to upload their images. Events have opening and closing dates, as well as the date of the event. These are used to allow submissions and online judging during specified periods. ==== Entries ==== See Managing Entries. Several options are available for administrators to edit and moderate entries after they've been uploaded. Normally entries are uploaded individually by the entrants, but administrators can upload entry data ahead of time (pre-registering entries) and can import entries from one or more competitions into a new competition. This may be used to create an end-of-year competition containing all the winners from previous events. See Bulk Upload Entries for more information on uploading entries. ==== Reports ==== See Reports. Available reports include: * A catalog of all entries for a time period * A slideshow (PDF file with one slide per page) of entries in a given competiton. ==== Voting Methods ==== See JudgingMethods Voting methods are delivered as class files with the plugin, and can be installed as needed. These are only used during online judging. ==== Search and Download ==== This option allows the administrator to search for images and download them as a single .zip file. Inside the .zip file will be the image files named according to the filename template and organized according to the directory layout setting. ==== Bulk Entry Upload ==== The Bulk Upload option allows two methods of populating an event with entry records: === Bulk Upload === Create a tab-separated file containing entry information: Entry IDExhibitor UsernameEvent IDImage TitleClass IDDivision IDSection IDImage Type (numeric)Location The event, class, division and user records must already exist. ===Import Existing Entries=== This option allows you to import entry records from one or more events into another event. For example, to create an end-of-year event containing all first-place entries from events throughout the year.
